The primary section of this theory is a short unifying theory of humanity.  The secondary section elaborates on this at length in the context of ethics, establishing a model of ethics using Five Categories Theory.  I focus on ethics for three reasons:

I noted earlier that as there has not previously existed a clear framework of core emotions and behaviors, neither has there previously existed a tangible framework of the core ethical dilemmas.  The abstract nature of Ethics means it has previously undergone less scientific research than most humanities.  Five Categories Theory decodes much of the abstraction underlying ethics, and thus allows for a more scientific study.

The mind expresses itself via behavior, and ethics study behavior.  This makes ethics a natural subject on which to elaborate this theory of mind.

Ethics determine which positive and negative emotions one experiences. They accomplish this by solving both internal and external problems. Things are important only by relation to positive or negative emotion. Therefore, ethics are important. In his book Beyond Religions, the Dalai Lama calls for a system of “secular ethics” in order to solve problems endemic to the human experience, which affect each individual and every community: “It is vital for us to find a genuinely sustainable and universal approach to ethics, inner values, and personal integrity; an approach that can transcend religious, cultural, and racial differences, and appeal to people at a fundamental, human level.”

We will now expand on Five Categories Theory with two charts.  The first is a chart of human thought processes, including emotions and behaviors.  This provides a better understanding of thought processes and of The Five Categories.

The second is a chart of conceptual sets related to The Five Categories, such as The Big Five Personality Traits, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and The Five Moral Foundations.  These theories contribute to an understanding of The Five Categories and vice versa.  More conceptual sets related to The Five Categories are discussed throughout Five Categories Theory -- some supplement ethical discussions; others compose charts of the core elements of ethics and corruption.
